In the State Archives of the Novosibirsk Region, work is underway on digitization on two new planetary scanners – Elarscan A1-600KS and Elarscan A2-600R. The most valuable and significant documents of the Novosibirsk Region Archival Fund, including large-format cartographic materials, will be digitized using domestic professional equipment. This was reported to CNews by representatives of “Elar”.

“At the new A1-600KS Elarscan planetary scanning complex, which is designed for contactless digitization of books, magazines, catalogues, newspapers, drawings, paintings and other documents in up to A1 + format, electronic copies will be created for the documents of the R-270 fund “Collection of cartographic documents, 1838 – 1970,” said the head of the department of automated archival technologies of the State Archive of the Novosibirsk Region. – It includes, among other things, geographical maps of European and Asian Russia (1884-1921), Eastern and Western Siberia (1902-1920), plans for Novosibirsk (1919-1935), Omsk with its environs (1917 G.),

The scanner “Elarscan” A2-600R, in turn, will serve for careful and high-quality digitization of documents of the R-2189 fund “Collection of books of civil status records in the Novosibirsk region, 1920-1925”, – they contain records of birth, marriage, divorce and death.
“Scanning documents and converting them into digital form is one of the most important tasks of the archive, this will provide remote access to documents to researchers from different cities and countries through the Internet portal Multimedia Archive of the Novosibirsk Region,” noted Vitaly Burenkov.
