Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro. An elite smartphone takes mobile gaming to a new level

Posted by

A new gaming phone from Asus, the ROG Phone 6 Pro, arrived at our newsroom. A new generation of gaming smartphone that tries to push everything to an even greater extreme, while still offering a great and unusual gaming experience.

The front is probably the only thing that hasn’t changed too much. Here we have a large 6.78″ AMOLED display with Full HD+, which again has small frames around it to avoid cutouts. The display with support for a high refresh rate of 165 Hz and especially a 720 Hz sampling rate for gamers is, in a word, top notch. In addition, it also promises a high brightness of up to 1200 nits.

The Asus ROG Phone once again offers a second display on the back. It is now moved more to the edge and, in addition to game graphics, also displays icons for received notifications.

But things were happening again on the back side. The design is futuristic, and after the success of its predecessor, here we again find a small color display for displaying various animations, status information or your own images. However, a new illuminated “Dare to Play” inscription has been added, the color of which can be changed at will. The unconventional design of the back calls for unconventional protective covers. You get a basic one directly in the package, and you can also buy a more durable one. For the first time ever, the phone is partially waterproof, according to the IPx4 standard.

Record performance and new cooling

What kind of gaming phone would it be if it didn’t bring extreme equipment? We therefore have the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, complemented by 18GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. This makes the phone clearly the most powerful Android smartphone on the market at the time of presentation, which was also confirmed by the Antutu test, where we exceeded 1.1 million points for the first time in history. The recently tested gaming Nubia Red Magic 7 Pro had 55 thousand points less, but still with an older “non-plus” Snapdragon.

High-quality cooling is also prepared for the giant performance. In the package, you even get a large physical fan, the AeroActive Cooler 6, which has been completely redesigned. Finally, it looks solid and has a more intuitive connection method. Annoying pins or a bifurcated connector have been replaced by USB-C, which is used to connect to the phone from the side. Of course, the fan also lights up and offers game buttons. It can even be used as a stand. Everything is powered by a 6000mAh battery that supports a maximum of 65W charging.

For gaming itself, there are traditional AirTriggers sensory buttons on the sides, on which you can map game functions. You can now pair them with movements such as tilting the phone to the side, etc.

The X-Mode game bar has been improved and is now called up from the top left corner. In addition to AiTriggers, new control gestures have also been added.

The ROG UI itself is adapted for gaming, which has been modified, from graphics to gaming functions, such as the expanded X-MODE game bar with quick settings and phone status information. For more detailed game features, visit the Armory Crate app.

What kind of phone would it be if there wasn’t even a camera. It finally got an upgrade after some time. It is triple, with the main one being the new 50Mpx IMX766 sensor, which we see at other times rather in the middle class, so don’t expect miracles this time either. It is complemented by a 13 Mpx wide-angle camera and a macro camera.

For photography, there is a completely new main sensor with a resolution of 50 Mpx.

Overall, the Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro is the next logical evolution of the popular gaming smartphone. It is even more powerful and again with a wilder design and a price of CZK 33,990. As part of it, you can also look forward to the included fan in the package. If you have one of the previous models, don’t expect groundbreaking news, but otherwise it’s a top-of-the-line phone that will certainly be worth it to its target group.

A cheaper version is also available

In addition to the tested model, the basic version of the Asus ROG Phone 6 will also be available on the Czech market. The phone’s equipment is very similar, just expect a smaller operating memory (12 or 16 GB RAM). The storage is analogous, i.e. 256 or 512 GB as in the Pro version.

However, the rest of the equipment is already identical, which makes the phone starting in the 12/256 GB configuration at a price of CZK 25,990 a very interesting gaming choice. The higher configuration of 16 + 512 GB will cost CZK 28,990. As part of the pre-sale until the end of July, customers can get a cooling fan for free. Subsequently, only Pro variants will be part of it.
