Under the auspices of Rosatom, a community of specialists in mathematical modeling is being created in Russia to “restart” the Russian scientific school in this area and focus work with personnel.

This was announced by the Director for Mathematical Modeling of the State Corporation Rosatom, Advisor to the Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of Russia on a voluntary basis Dmitry Fomichev.

The community will be formed as an open club of scientists and professionals within the framework of the CAD/CAE consortium, created a year ago to ensure import substitution of industrial software for mathematical modeling. This was reported to CNews by representatives of Rosatom

The goal of the project is to intensify research work in the relevant areas and train specialists for the breakthrough development of domestic industrial software of the SAE-class.

“This initiative of Rosatom is aimed at creating a “nutrient environment” for the scientific and technical creativity of young scientists and programmers involved in the development of digital science, including data science, which is popular today. And, of course, this club is important to us as a place where unique professionals can grow up who are able to create and implement Industry 4.0 technologies in various industries. Let’s try to “restart” the Russian school of mathematical modeling, which is talked about a lot and needs to be revived and multiplied,” said Dmitry Fomichev.

Also, the mathematical modeling community will develop as a platform for the popularization of mathematics and programming, providing access for interested participants to lecture courses and scientific discussions.

The organizers of the community expect that the activities of the club will lead to the accumulation of intellectual resources for the qualitative growth of Russian developments in the field of mathematical modeling, including the formation of leading scientific and technical groups that will strengthen the personnel potential in this area.

“We are creating a community where participants will exchange ideas, give lectures to students and young employees, and engage with schoolchildren. It is important that young generations grow up from an early age in an environment where opinion leaders are enterprising intellectuals and practitioners,” said Dmitry Fomichev.

The initiative is non-commercial. And the platform where the community will work will be Russian universities.

Dmitry Fomichev recalled that Rosatom, together with Russian universities, is implementing a project to create a system for training specialists to work with Russian industrial software. In particular, this issue was discussed within the framework of the CIPR-2022 forum at a meeting organized by Rosatom with the participation of representatives of high-tech Russian companies and members of the Council of Rectors of Universities of the Volga Federal District. “We strive to create scientific and educational centers for mathematical modeling at universities and we have the opportunity to transfer Logos licenses to universities for scientific and educational activities free of charge,” Dmitry Fomichev concluded.

“Logos” is a digital product for engineering analysis and supercomputer modeling of the SAE class. Created on the basis of many years of developments of the state corporation “Rosatom”, which since 2009 has been carried out by the RFNC-VNIIEF (“Rosatom”).
