Hanwha Techwin has unveiled three new bispectral devices that combine a CCTV camera and a thermal imager. In each of the new products, the visible range camera contains built-in artificial intelligence that finds and classifies objects in the frame. All three devices – Wisenet TNM-C4940TD, TNM-C4950TD and TNM-C4960TD – have an 8-megapixel visible camera and a 1280×960 thermal imager. The frame rate in both streams is 30 fps.
Artificial intelligence determines the type of detected object in new devices – a person, a person, a car number, a vehicle. For the latter, there is a view – a car, a truck, a bus, a motorcycle, a bicycle.
Frames best suited for intellectual analysis are selected using the BestShot function. Artificial intelligence also registers events – the intersection of a virtual line by an object, its entry into a given zone and exit from it. In addition, it determines the direction of movement, detects “loitering”, finds a stopped car or a traffic jam in the frame.
With the help of “traditional” video analytics, without the use of artificial intelligence, the camera detects movement, the appearance and disappearance of objects, defocusing and disabling the camera itself, a blow to the body, and sounds are classified. In the thermal imager, according to the algorithms of “normal” video analytics, movement is detected, the object crosses a virtual line, entering the zone and leaving the zone, and the direction of movement is determined. Another event that the thermal imager detects is temperature change.
In both ranges, the image is compressed by the H.265, H.264 or MJPEG codec. To improve compression efficiency, the camera uses WiseStream III technology, in which artificial intelligence is involved. The thermal imager uses WiseStream II technology.

In the camera, the Prefer Shutter function is also built on artificial intelligence – the shutter speed increases when there is no movement in the frame. This reduces noise or increases sharpness. In addition, the WiseNR II noise reduction function itself works in an artificial intelligence camera. In addition, the visible range camera uses dynamic range expansion (WDR) up to 120 dB and digital image stabilization, activated using built-in gyrosensors. Lens Distortion Correction (LDC) is used to correct distortion at the edges of the image, and Simple Focus is used for precise and convenient focusing.
New devices differ in lenses. The visible range camera of the TNM-C4940TD model has a varifocal lens with a focal length that varies from 4.4 mm to 9.3 mm, the other two new products – from 10.9 to 29 mm. The thermal imager in the TNM-C4940TD device is equipped with a fixed lens with a focal length of 9.1 mm, in the TNM-C4950TD – 13.5 mm, in the TNM-C4960TD – 25 mm. The short throw model TNM-C4940TD has a built-in IR illuminator with a range of 30m.
The new devices have two slots for memory cards, with a capacity of up to 512 GB each. The novelty is powered by PoE + technology. Their operating temperature range is from -40 to +60°C.
