Sochiavtotrans launched a Russian-made KAMAZ-6282 electric bus on the Sochi city route No. 17. The charging infrastructure for the pilot project was provided by Sitronics Electro.

The transition to environmentally friendly municipal transport is an important part of the environmental project of the Sochi administration, already now more than 100 buses running on methane run in the city. An application has been submitted for participation in the national project “Safe High-Quality Roads” for the renewal of rolling stock running on natural gas fuel. Charging stations are installed at the resort. Since the summer of 2021, a Belarusian-made electric bus has been running in Sochi on the same route.

Now, as part of a pilot project for the transportation of passengers in the city, a Russian-made KAMAZ-6282 electric bus will run, for which an ultra-fast charging station of the Sitronics Electro operator has been installed.

“In Sochi, 2022 was announced by the head of the city Alexey Kopaygorodsky Year of ecology. We approached this decision very seriously and intend to radically revise our attitude towards the environment, which is affected by human economic activity, primarily in the transport sector. First of all, in the resort town it is necessary to take decisive steps to reduce the level of exhaust gases. In this matter, we are placing a big stake on public transport, which runs on electricity, as well as the development of a network of charging stations. I want to thank our partners in the person of the Russian company KAMAZ and the operator Sitronics Electro for the opportunity to apply their latest developments in the field of eco-transport in the Sochi territory,” said the Deputy Head of Sochi Nikolay Beskrovny.

Based on the results of controlled operation, specialists from KAMAZ and Sochiavtotrans will conduct an expert assessment of the operation of the electric bus.

“KAMAZ 6282 is a fully low-floor electric bus designed for the urban environment. It uses the main components of traction electrical equipment, including an electric bridge and lithium-titanate batteries with an energy capacity of 80 kWh with a maximum cruising range of 70 km. Moreover, the battery life is up to 20 thousand cycles,” said the director of the department of passenger transport, head of the development department of KAMAZ Shamil Zaripov.

The electric bus is comfortable for passengers and cost-effective for carriers, equipped with 3 doors and can accommodate up to 85 passengers. The cabin has 35 plastic comfortable seats, a ramp, and there are also places for wheelchairs, while the low floor level facilitates the boarding and disembarking of passengers, including people with limited mobility.

For the project, the charging infrastructure operator Sitronics Electro (part of the Sitronics Group) installed an ultra-fast charging station on the territory of the bus fleet. On it, the electric bus will be charged with a power of 300 kW – up to 80% in 20 minutes.

“The transition to electric public transport is an important step in the implementation of the environmental project of the Sochi city administration. Electric buses are environmentally friendly and quiet vehicles that increase the comfort of citizens and reduce the amount of harmful emissions. We are developing a charging infrastructure in the country for both cars and large passenger vehicles. We are glad that Sochi has joined the Sitronics Electro projects to convert urban transport to electric traction in Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod,” said the Executive Director of Sitronics Electro Andrey Gurlenov.

An agreement was also reached with Rosseti Kuban to promote the further expansion of the network of electric charging stations in the region by developing the network infrastructure in accordance with applications for technological connection.
