Rostelecom has equipped seven municipal beaches in the capital of the Southern Urals with a cloud-based video surveillance system. Modern IP cameras around the clock online record events at the City, Novorossiysk, Smolinsky, Sportivny, Churilovsky, Shershnevsky recreation areas, as well as the White Sail beach. The video stream is transmitted to the system of the Unified Duty Dispatch Service – 112 of the city of Chelyabinsk (EDDS). This was reported to CNews by representatives of Rostelecom.

Rostelecom cameras will operate on city beaches until August 31, 2022. The digital service helps the EDDS operator to monitor compliance with the rules for water recreation, as well as maintain public order.

Director of the Chelyabinsk branch of PJSC Rostelecom Mikhail Sergeev: “To eliminate blind spots, we installed 4-megapixel panoramic cameras with multiple sensors and a horizontal viewing angle of 100 degrees. These cameras provide a complete overview of the beaches and bathing areas. The devices send video to the cloud storage of our data center. Data transmission takes place via the mobile Internet. Information from the cameras is stored on the Rostelecom server for five days, while only the customer of the service has access to the archive.

Alexey Voronin, director of the MKU “Unified-on-duty-dispatching service – 112 of the city of Chelyabinsk”: “We previously tested the cloud video surveillance service on five municipal beaches of Chelyabinsk. This year, we decided to equip two more popular recreational areas for citizens with cameras – the White Sail beaches on the Shershnevsky reservoir and the Sportivny beach near Lake Smolino. Video surveillance is an effective tool for continuous monitoring of the situation in crowded places.”

At the request of the customer, cloud video surveillance can be supplemented with a video analytics function for automatically recording various events: a person falling or jumping into the water from a pier, swimming behind buoys, entering the ice in the winter season, etc.
