Imagine a special forces operation during which they set up an observatory on a rocky hillside, of course in enemy territory. Their task is to track the terrorists from the camp, which is located below this slope. The terrorists are planning an attack and it is necessary to prevent them. When terrorist activity peaks, special forces have to attack the terrorist commanders.
At the same time, this commander is quite sure that he is not in any great danger. There are almost no shelters around the terrorist camp. He equipped his men with night-vision goggles or similar devices, with which it is possible to see potential threats when he reveals his heat trace. But special forces are ready for it.
They have a special camouflage in the form of a tent, thanks to which they not only merge with the terrain, like hobbits in front of the Black Gate of Mordor, but also reliably cover their heat trail.
Such hidden soldiers are difficult to find during the day and practically impossible to find at night. The mission is on schedule. When the efforts of the terrorists culminate, one of the attackers with this remarkable camouflage, pulls the trigger and from a distance of half a kilometer completes the mission.
Kit 300 is introduced
Until recently, this scenario was rather hypothetical. But with the new camouflage material of the Israeli company Polaris Solutions, it suddenly became real. The “Kit 300” material represents visual and thermal masking. It consists of advanced materials, thanks to which Kit 300 blocks the heat radiation of a masked soldier or machine.
Polaris Solutions does not provide material composition details, only that it includes microfibers, metals and polymers. A large piece of Kit 300 material can hide a vehicle up to the size of a Hummer.
The standard size of Kit 300 is about as a sheet for a double bed, it can be rolled up like a towel and its weight corresponds to about 0.5 kilograms. Kit 300 should be strong enough to kidnap a wounded soldier. It should also be waterproof and tested in both rain and high heat.
After the thermal vision devices “tracked down” the soldiers hidden in the field and made them uncomfortably vulnerable, the Kit 300 returns the soldiers to the game and again allows them to disappear from the enemy’s eyes if necessary.
