How we used social networks in 2021 was revealed by the Czech Statistical Office. Social networks have been used by over 56% of the population since the age of 16, ie less than five million people. In this respect, the Czech Republic does not deviate significantly from the European Union average. As a reminder, in 2010, less than 10% of people in our country used social networks.
Women used a small piece of the net more than men. generally the younger age category, that was usability higher. The vast majority of people aged 16-24 (95%) and 25-34 (93%) spent time on them, and the numbers gradually fall to less than six percent for people aged 75 and older. The use of social networks continued to grow along with educational attainment.

Almost five percent of Czechs did not know how their profiles were set up on online social networks in this regard.
Public sharing was more practiced by people with less education, while with increasing education, non-public sharing increased. A similar percentage of people in each age category had completely public profiles. The emphasis on privacy has diminished with age, ie the younger a person is, the more likely he is, according to statistics in 2021, to appear on social networks at least in part in private.
