After the purchase and subsequent secession from Nokia, the Fracnouz company Withings is still developing smart medical devices. She presented Body Scan at CES. Labeling it as a “personal weight” may seem a little offensive, and the device can do so much more.
A predecessor called Body Cardio has done a lot. In addition to weight, he estimated BMI, body composition (ratio of muscle, bone, fat and water), measured heart rate and pulse wave speed.
In addition, Body Scan received a handle with electrodes and a winding cable. Thanks to that, he still promises more accurate measurement of body composition and increased as well six-lead ECGto help detect atrial arrhythmia / fibrillation. Withings has already integrated the ECG into a watch or sphygmomanometer. Here, in theory, the analysis should be the most accurate, because the electrodes touch more distant places on the body.
It will also be the first ever common consumer monitoring device lower limb neuropathy (this is what President Zeman suffers from, for example). The device has the activity of the nerves in the feet scanned within 30 seconds.
Complete measurement of all quantities takes a minute. So all you have to do is stand barefoot on Body Scan, grab the handle and wait for the result. Withings displays basic information on a color display, then sends all data to the Health Mate mobile application via Wi-Fi. Body Scan is supposed to last one year on one charge.
Withings Body Scan will not go on sale until the second half of the year, once it has been approved by US and European authorities. The estimated price will be 300 euros (7500 CZK), double what the Body Cardio normally costs.
