Last week, Microsoft introduced innovations focused on business environments, some of which will also affect the consumer segment. The motto was hybrid work, which means that we also work from home to a greater extent. Although Panos Panay, head of Windows development, did not speak specifically, in the video the company shows what it is up to for the Eleven. We have already seen most of the news.

You can try a lot in the Insider program in recent weeks. Introduced improvements to Microsoft did not merge with a specific version of Windows 11. It is clear that the improvements should be carried over to the autumn version of 22H2, the development of which has recently entered the beta phase. However, Windows 11 version 22H2 was not officially introduced at the event, as we expected.

This is also indicated by the latest build of Windows 11 in Insider. So what is important from the sketched news?

  • Explorer with panels and personal content. We’ve seen and integrated the integrated file manager panel environment, and Microsoft now admits it intends to deliver it to Windows 11. It was said to be one of the most frequent requests from companies. Explorer will also suggest folders and files for you on the home page. Use the cloud and collaborative features to see who made the latest changes. Add files to favorites.
  • Pinning windows. He can try this like most things on this list. When you drag a window, a menu appears at the top of the screen to pin the window to the selected position. It works with both mouse and touch screen.
  • Start menu folders. You will also name the program shortcut folders.
  • Concentrated work mode. When you turn it on, the Clock shows the countdown to the end of the session. Based on your preferences, all alerts from information bars to numbers in taskbar icons are hidden for a specified period of time.
  • Better video conferencing. Depending on your Windows hardware, it enhances your voice during video calls, blurs the background behind you, or adjusts your eyes to make it look like you’re looking at the camera, that is, the person on the other side.
  • Live subtitling. The Redmonds have already shown this novelty, but it is not yet usable for Czech. If you’re good enough with English, you might appreciate that Windows will immediately generate subtitles from audio sources. Press Win + Ctrl + L.
  • Computer voice control. Today, Windows 11 recognizes Czech speech and turns it into text. Over time, it will also be possible to use voice recognition to control your computer. Like the captioning feature, it is part of a broader effort to make Windows a more inclusive platform.

Several improvements are aimed primarily at companies, but these are mostly security aspects. The second big topic is Windows 365:

  • USB key data protection. No one can access the data on the computer until Windows Hello for Business has verified access, which can be firmly connected, for example, to physical keys to USB.
  • Smart App Control. The mode allows you to run only trusted applications on the system. Activation will only be possible with a clean installation of Windows 11. In addition to digital signatures, trustworthiness will be assessed using artificial intelligence, and data will be collected and evaluated in the cloud.
  • Microsoft Defender SmartScreen offers advanced anti-phishing protection.
  • Hypervisor-Protected Code Integrity (HVCI) will be turned on by default on a wider range of computers in the next release of Windows 11. Microsoft still leaves room for the device to be disabled by default on some devices.
  • Credential Guard will be active in the Enterprise edition by default. Similarly, it will be standard in companies that Local Security Authority (LSA) reads only the signed code.
  • Windows 365 integration. You will learn more about this in the article itself. Microsoft is integrating the service into the Eleven so that the use of a cloud computer is as accessible as possible. A separate new client will be used for this.
